INT. JIM HAWKINS' CABIN BASEMENT - CONTINUOUS
Sarah hears footsteps coming down the steps and rushes to see
who it is. She's a little disappointed when she sees it's
Ben.
SARAH HAWKINS
What happened? Are our Dads still
here?
BENJAMIN CROWE
They're both dead.
Sarah spots the gun in his right hand and the splattered
blood on his shirt and takes a step back as Kyle gets off the
couch.
SARAH HAWKINS
What did you do?
Ben raises the pistol and pulls the trigger. Sarah lets out
an ear piercing scream as Kyle falls to floor behind her.
She turns to see her dead brother at her feet and screams
even louder.
SARAH HAWKINS
What did you do!?
BENJAMIN CROWE
We have to get out of here.
SARAH HAWKINS
You killed him!
BENJAMIN CROWE
He was already dead. He was trying
to attack you and if he-
SARAH HAWKINS
How could he try to attack me if he
was dead?
BENJAMIN CROWE
I don't know, your Dad just
explained it to me, sort of, and I
swear I'll do my best to explain it
to you once we hit the road, but we
have to leave now.
SARAH HAWKINS
You talked to my Dad? Where is he?
BENJAMIN CROWE
Upstairs, but he's dead.
Sarah bolts past Ben up the stairs and he quickly turns and
chases her up.
INT. JIM HAWKINS' CABIN - CONTINUOUS
Sarah stops dead in her tracks when she see the five dead
bodies on the floor upstairs. She spots her Dad last.
SARAH HAWKINS
What, what happened?
BENJAMIN CROWE
We don't have time for this.
SARAH HAWKINS
We don't have time for it? You just
killed my fucking family!
BENJAMIN CROWE
Actually your Dad killed himself
and Kyle was already dead when I
shot him.
SARAH HAWKINS
Have you gone completely mental?
BENJAMIN CROWE
I swear to god he was. I think
something really fucked up is
happening here and I swear I'll try
my best to explain it to you as
soon as we get on the road.
SARAH HAWKINS
Why are you in such a hurry to
leave?
BENJAMIN CROWE
Because that thing that tried to
eat Kyle's foot has friends and
they're all here.
SARAH HAWKINS
What?
BENJAMIN CROWE
Come take a look.
Sarah gets up from the floor and joins Ben at the window to
see around twenty zombies slowly making their way out of the
lake.
SARAH HAWKINS
Oh my god!
BENJAMIN CROWE
We've gotta go, now!
Ben grabs Sarah by the hand and leads her out the door and to
the driveway.
EXT. JIM HAWKINS' CABIN - CONTINUOUS
BENJAMIN CROWE
We'll take my Dad's truck.
Ben and Sarah stop dead in their tracks in front of the truck
as a zombie stumbles around the back of it on the driver's
side. Sarah screams.
BENJAMIN CROWE
Get in quick.
Ben pushes the unlock button on the key chain as Sarah makes
her way to the passenger side door and gets in.
Ben keeps his gun trained on the zombie's head as it stumbles
closer and he slowly approaches the truck's door.
He reaches and opens the truck's door before firing a single
shot through the zombie's forehead.
The zombie falls lifeless to the ground with a thud as Ben
climbs into the truck.
INT. GORDON CROWES' TRUCK - CONTINUOUS
BENJAMIN CROWE
Holy shit!
The zombies from the lake are now stumbling around the house
towards the driveway as even more continue to parade out of
the lake.
SARAH HAWKINS
What the fuck is going on?
