INT. KAYLA JANSSON'S SUV - CONTINUOUS
Kayla looks up from her stitching job to see a pack of 13 zombies about fifty yards away heading up from the garage's underground levels.
Paul sets Josh down in the passenger seat.
KAYLA JANSSON
I'm not done yet.
PAUL JANSSON
Well, you'd better hurry up 'cause
I'd say we've only got about five
minutes before they're on top of
us.
KAYLA JANSSON
I'm gonna need at least ten.
Paul checks his pistols again.
PAUL JANSSON
I'll see what I can do.
He heads off screen down the slight ramp as he opens fire on the crowd of zombies.
BECKY HENDERSON
(wiping sweat off Gregg's
forehead)
He doesn't look so good.
KAYLA JANSSON
He'll be fine.
BECKY HENDERSON
He doesn't even look like he's
breathing.
Kayla takes a closer look and realizes that Becky's right. Gregg's chest isn't moving anymore.
She puts two fingers to his neck and doesn't like the answer it gives her.
KAYLA JANSSON
God damn it!
BECKY HENDERSON
Is he dead?
Kayla just nods.
KAYLA JANSSON
I'll go get Paul and tell him we
can leave now.
Kayla pushes the door open and Becky screams louder than she has all day.
Kayla turns to see Gregg sitting up right and trying to pull Becky's hand into his mouth.
Becky pulls her hand free and squirms to get away from him as Kayla tries punching him off.
KAYLA JANSSON
Go out the back, Becky, go out the
back!
Gregg focuses his attention on Kayla now who punches him straight in the mouth, knocking him back before she climbs out of the SUV and slams the door shut behind her.
INT. PARKING GARAGE - CONTINUOUS
Kayla rushes around the front of the SUV and pulls Josh out of the passenger seat as Paul comes rushing back.
PAUL JANSSON
What the hell are you doing?
Kayla rushes to the back of the SUV with Josh in her arms as she responds.
KAYLA JANSSON
Gregg's one of them now.
Kayla pulls the back of the SUV open, Becky tumbles out, and Kayla slams it shut again.
KAYLA JANSSON
Are you okay?
Becky's too shaken up to respond.
PAUL JANSSON
She's fine, we've gotta get out of
here.
Kayla turns to see the zombies near the top of the ramp near the front of the SUV in even stronger numbers than before.
KAYLA JANSSON
Jesus Christ! What do we do now?
Paul looks around for awhile and spots an elevator on the other side of the garage.
PAUL JANSSON
I got an idea. Come on.
Paul helps Becky to her feet and leads them to the elevator where he presses the up button.
KAYLA JANSSON
Where are we going?
PAUL JANSSON
We'll just go up a bit and stop the
elevator between floors.
KAYLA JANSSON
And then what?
PAUL JANSSON
I don't know. We wait, I guess.
The mob of zombies is about halfway across the garage now.
KAYLA JANSSON
God, does this even still work?
Just before Paul can respond the elevator dings and slides open.
Everyone clambers in and the doors shut behind them.
INT. PARKING GARAGE ELEVATOR - CONTINUOUS
Paul pushes the stop button half way between the first and second floors.
Becky slumps down in the corner with her head in her hands sobbing and Paul sits down beside her.
PAUL JANSSON
(putting an arm around
Becky's shoulders)
It's gonna be okay. We're safe for
now.
Kayla turns her back to them and looks at her hand to find bloody tooth marks on her knuckles.
THE END
COMMENTARY: So there it is, another chapter come and gone. I realize these chapters haven't been ending with the most closure but I promise that future chapters will start to tie into the ends of these first ones. Well, maybe not this chapter, I honestly haven't had that much fun trying to write this one and may end up just leaving it where it is. But, I do have a few ideas for continuing this story through the eyes of either Becky or Paul so, who knows. Anyway, Chapter 4 will start a whole new story, while Chapter 5 will more than likely be connected to the party in Chapter 1. Either way I'll be bringing you another one parter tomorrow that brings us very close to the site of the outbreak!
